Chapter 12 — Ryder

Jade shuffled closer and placed her arms tightly around my chest, her thighs gripping around my hips. It felt good to have my Princess on the back of my bike. This was where she belonged. With me. It was fitting that the two things I loved on this earth were with me today.

The bike rumbled to life and I opened the throttle till it roared. Jade pressed her knees into my hips as I accelerated down the road.

“Hold tight, babe,” I shouted as we came to the main road.

I smiled when I remembered the first time she rode on the back of my bike. She’d now become way more relaxed, and loved the wind in her face nearly as much as I did. We’d come a long way since then—and even if I knew what lay ahead of us on that day, I would’ve made the same choices.

My brother, Max, told me to live my life in such a way that I’d have no regrets. No amount of hurting or odds stacked against us could ever make me regret falling for my sassy, smart-mouthed woman. I’d fight for her, die for her. She was my fucking air.

Her cheek pressed against my back. Happiness filled every cell in my body.

Twenty minutes later we arrived at our agreed starting point. My mind was blown away by the number of bikers who’d come out to support us. I greeted everyone with a nod and a smile, recognizing most faces. The brothers all wore their cuts and their pimped-up bikes were both ridiculous and awesome. I swallowed the lump in my throat. Many of the other bikers who supported our club wore T-shirts that Hammer had designed with Jamie’s face printed on the front and back.

“Oh Ryder, just look how many people turned up.” Jade hugged me closer to her. I was sure she was grinning from ear to ear behind my back.

I squeezed her hand before motioning for her to get off the bike. I swung my leg over and got off, too. I kissed her smiling lips before pulling her hand toward where Mia stood alone.

“Merry Christmas, honey,” Jade said as she hugged Mia.

“Merry Christmas. And you too, Ryder. I think it's going to be a good day after all.” Her eyes shone as she looked around at the hordes of people who were multiplying by the minute. “It’s a wonderful turnout. I can't believe so many people came.”

She was right. In my wildest dreams, I’d never expected such a huge turnout. I kissed Mia’s cheek and hugged her, wishing her the best too. Knitting my brows together, I narrowed my eyes and surveyed the crowd for Cobra. He was probably checking the people out and looking around for new recruits.

My blood ran cold when I saw a familiar face in the crowd. Harrison fucking Summers. What the fuck was he doing here? I sucked in a breath when a woman slipped her arm through his and he leaned down to kiss her.
